The oldest licensee at the Jug & Glass is recorded in 1787, though the building dates back to around 1179, when the monks of Welbeck Abbey farmed the land. The pub was a Hardy’s and Hansons house for many years, until the brewery was bought by Greene King, which it remains today.

The exterior is ‘postcard-perfect’, with its stone facade, green wooden windows and hanging baskets. The south-facing frontage sits opposite the village green and the River Poulter, making the row of benches a lovely place to sit and enjoy a pint in the warmer months.

Up to three of the Greene King range can be found. Food is served from the menu or specials board. Dog friendly in the bar. The pub is a short walk from Langwith-Whaley Thorns station, on the Robin Hood line or via the Stagecoach 23, which stops approx 500m along Main Road.
