Volunteering

Volunteers are very welcome!

We're always in need of help within the branch. From becoming a committee member and attending meetings to sending photos of what's on the bar when you visit a pub - it all helps to make the branch run smoothly.

Branch roles vacant!

Pub Protection Officer

CAMRA deem a Pub Protection Officer an essential branch role, but it is a position that hasn't been filled since the branch re-formed. Are you passionate about saving pubs from closure? Then why not join us?

The role involves, but is not limited to:

  • Monitor online planning application lists for all authorities in your branch area.
  • Support local authorities in maintaining and enforcing effective pub protection policies in their plans.
  • Promote interest in local pubs with features that are historically or architecturally significant.
  • Encourage branch members to identify pubs that might be under threat of closure or alteration. Monitor brewery/pubco mergers and takeovers for potential threats to their local pub estate.

Cider and Perry Representative

The branch currently needs a Cider and Perry representative - a role CAMRA lists as 'important'. Could you help promote and campaign for real cider and perry in local pubs and clubs, and help raise awareness with branch members?

The role involves:

  • Encouraging local pubs and clubs to serve real cider and perry.
  • Raising awareness, both in the trade and with branch members, of genuine real cider and perry and their usual methods of storage and dispense.
  • Researching real cider pubs, cider makers and distributors in our branch area.
  • Encouraging or organising cider-related activities and promotions.
  • Involving branch members in selecting the Branch Cider and Perry Pub of the Year
  • Becoming the branch expert on cider and perry.

Both roles can take up as much time as you are prepared to give, and participation at branch meetings is beneficial. It should be possible to arrange a handover/mentoring meeting with the previous holder of the cider representative role.

If you feel like you could do one of these roles, or know someone who could, please drop us a message at ku.gro.armac.dleifsnam@tcatnochcnarb
