In 2017 we decided to turn the pub kitchen into a microbrewery, we wanted to have the brewery in the pub so customers could experience the aroma of brewing and see the brewery working at weekends when they visited the pub.
Our intention was to keep the beers in-house but they have become so popular we now supply a couple to local micropubs and have had lots of inquiries from other local micropubs to stock our beers, so we are now in the process of looking at a larger brewery.
To date we have produced 59 different ales, all have dog-related names so they are easy to spot on the bar. Some of these are seasonal so you have to be quick as they don't last long when they are on.
We then went on to craft ales which give a nice refreshing drink with lots of flavours on the warmer days. We now produce a lager called 'Probably Another Lager', this is 5% with a continental feel to it. Our newest venture to come out of the brewery onto the bar is 'Smooth Paw. With these drinks, you get all the flavours of hand pulls but with a creamier head and a smoother feel on the palette. When we get a larger system up and running, keep your eyes open at your local for Scruffy Dog! (March '23)
